Reinventing the wheel

STARCO develop our own products under the STARCO brand, focussing particularly on wheel and tyres we can manufacture to higher quality standards using our own designs and manufacturing facilities. Our position as market leader in special wheels has been won by our ability to understand the needs of our customers and to meet these needs with better products.

In response to customer requirements and market opportunities, STARCO engineers maintain a continual design and development effort to produce new wheels and tyres under the STARCO brand. We know our customers and understand their applications. From our comprehensive knowledge of the products already available on the market, we identify those applications for which a better wheel solution is possible.

Development efforts may be driven by the need for new configurations – new wheel sizes and offsets or tyres with special performance and endurance characteristics. Our development program is also driven by the pursuit of quality and value – resulting in products that are more durable or hear-wearing, or which can better withstand the application environment in which they will be used.

Design and development also addresses logistics issues – resulting in products that can be manufactured to high quality standards in the required volume and be delivered just-in-time to our customers worldwide.

STARCO manufacturing facilities, covering steel and plastic wheels, pneumatic and puncture-free tyres and special wheel solutions for agriculture and industry, enable us to offer better products to our customers, because we can control the entire manufacturing and logistics chain.

Test facility to validate and improve design

  • We links to independent laboratories to ensure expert knowledge and latest standards are maintained.
  • Cornering fatigue test machine to validate wheels up to 50”, small wheel dynamometer, burst and leakage testing.
  • We conduct field testing with strategic partners.
  • REACH testing.
  • Quality Assurance testing on all product sold through our entities to ensure product quality is maintained

Customer specific engineering

STARCO engineers can provide the optimal special wheel and tyre solution for any application, drawing on our comprehensive catalogue and our extensive manufacturing capabilities.

When faced with an unusual requirement for a wheel solution, the first task is often to determine whether a suitable product already exists. With over fifty years experience of the special wheels market and the world’s most comprehensive catalogue, STARCO is often able to source a wheel solution that can meet your requirements.

When designing a new machine or modifying an existing product, there will often be the need for a special wheel – a wheel that will match the mechanical construction while accommodating the right tyre for the job, allowing the machine to perform its function efficiently, safely and economically.

Rapid prototyping

If the right wheel doesn’t exist, it’s a short step from our engineer’s drawing board to our rapid prototype manufacturing facilities. In close cooperation with our customers, we can design the optimal steel or plastic wheel solution, taking into account not only the important mechanical and economic factors, but also the entire logistics challenges that relate to the efficient manufacturing, assembly and delivery of the wheel solution, where necessary in compliance with relevant standards for the application.

Our engineering expertise covers the complete wheel solution – including the wheel, the tyre, and, where applicable, tubes and valves; even the axle to which the complete assembly will be mounted.

  • Best E-coating in the wheel industry

The e-coat facility is an electrodeposition coating process, in which steel wheels are given a priming coat that will prevent rust and corrosion throughout the normal working life of the wheel.
  • STARCO Gizmo

Though the idea is simple, the development of the release valve has been demanding. Many designs and compounds were developed and tested before STARCO was confident that the device could be calibrated to specific applications and pressures.
  • Spun wheel production

STARCO operates modern steel wheel manufacturing plants in Croatia, United Kingdom and China covering a major proportion of the company’s requirements for plastic and steel wheels.
