Tyre & wheel awareness at Väderstad
Swedish company Väderstad invited STARCO to increase tyre and wheel awareness amongst their employees. Väderstad is known for their world class seed drills and had 20 employees attending the training. They learned about how the wheel and tyre impact the performance of the applications.
A STARCO team consisting of representatives from the Sales, Quality and Technical teams conducted Wheel & Tyre Awareness Training for the Swedish agricultural implementation manufacturer Väderstad.
“The half-day training sessions focussed on basic tyre and wheel knowledge and development, manufacturing and quality related to the wheels and tyres,” explains Pasi Pietikainen, Sales Manager, Nordics, STARCO. He continues, “This time I was joined by our Quality Manager who presented how we work with quality in STARCO and more overall about frequent failures of tyres in the field.”
Väderstad has been a STARCO customer for nearly 10 years. They were founded in the 1960 and have strived ever since to create ingenious farm machinery and more effective farming methods. STARCO is one of the suppliers for wheels and tyres for their soil preparation machines and world-class seed drill.
“The listeners were very interested in how and why tyres fail. We shared examples of when a tyre is overloaded, underinflated, attacked by ozone or cracks due to aging,” says Ronald Carias Esteban, Quality Manager at STARCO. He explains, “The knowledge of frequent failures and quality is very valuable when optimising the use of machines in the fields.”
“We continuously strive to increase the performance of the application by using the optimum wheel and tyre,” states Pietikainen. He continues, “Together with our customers, we develop bespoke designs with the aim of better machines and more efficient processes in the field. Just like Väderstad.”
He also explained how STARCO works with claim handling, root cause analysis and supplier evaluations to continuously improve quality.
“We continuously strive to increase the performance of the application by using the optimum wheel and tyre,” states Pietikainen. He continues, “Together with our customers, we develop bespoke designs with the aim of better machines and more efficient processes in the field. Just like Väderstad.”
STARCO develop and manufacture standard or bespoke wheel and tyre solutions. Among other things, the training covers the impact that the type, quality and maintenance of the tyres has on the performance of the machine or application.
“At our awareness training, we go through the differences between diagonal/radial tyres and spun/pressed/rolled wheels and how tyres and wheels are developed and manufactured.”
STARCO got only positive feedback from the attendees and the STARCO team found the training very valuable too. “It gives us great insight to and understanding of ‘new’ customer representatives. I already look forward to our next Tyre & Wheel training,” says Pietikainen.
